WELCOME!!
To my website Burl Washington Fine Arts a site reflecting the history and aspects of the African-American experience in the American West and beyond. My art range from the Buffalo Soldiers, Women of the West, Tuskegee Airman, Cowboys/Cowgirls, Rural Scene and many other images. I have long been excited about the American frontier and the early settlers. The expansion of the West by the early settler has been a subject of many artist but not many reflect the African-American experience. My images create another dimension to the early frontier and the men and women who farmed and tamed a harsh land.
I have enjoyed painting the history of the American West and beyond for many years. The excitement of the history from an African-American prospective is quite a endeavor. Traveling to the many forts around the country learning the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, cowboys and cowgirls has expanded my understanding of the trails and tribulations these great men and women encountered. All of these experiences is reflected in the many paintings I have produced to cover the contributions these great individuals experienced.
I have created many paintings reflecting those experiences. Many museums have begun to recognize my work as a reflection of those aspects of that history. Museums such as the Booth Western Art Museum, Cartersville, Georgia; National Buffalo Soldiers Museum, Houston, Texas; Briscoe Museum, San Antonio, Texas; Pearce Museum, Corisicana, Texas; National Multicultural Museum, Fort Worth, Texas; Brazos Valley African-American Museum, Bryan, Texas to name a few. This part of our American history has been overlooked for quite sometime but not anymore.
I would like to thank all of those museums who aided in my research and open up their achieves in this effect. May God continue to bless all those who bring forth the truth about our American History to include all races and nationalities in the development of this great country.
