"The Yellow Rose of Texas", Emily Morgan better known as the Yellow Rose of Texas earned a place in Texas history and this country's by her part in the battle of San Jacinto.  Ms. Morgan was a young attractive slave girl who caught the eye of the Mexican general Santa Anna during the capture of New Washington, a small south Texas town.

Emily Morgan's role as the general's mistress enabled her to pass important information of the general attack plans to Sam Houston the commander of the Texas company.  While Santa Anna we detained in his tent the Texas company of soldiers encompassed the Mexican army and captured their leader.  From this role Emily Morgan played in the upset of the Mexican Army in 1836 the United States gained several states, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Wyoming.
